Innovation in functional foods and food systems

In this review Food Innovation have highlighted a number of recent papers that relate innovations in functional foods and ingredients with future food systems.  The nutritional content of food and drink is an area of intense interest in the food and drink industry.  This includes the concerns of communicating correct and legal information, the ability to utilise new ingredients with improved nutritional importance and New Product Development (NPD) that aims to address specific health and lifestyle issues (such as heart disease, obesity, mood).
