Packaging issues in the food and drink sector

Packaging of food and drink has extremely important implications for manufacture of appropriate materials, waste production, delivery quality and maintenance of products in optimal condition. A range of regulatory measures have changed the approach of many organisations to packaging strategy. Further changes in disposal costs and environmental targets have increased the importance of optimising the use of packaging and the development of new innovative materials that can provide cost and product quality benefits.

In this section we will give an overview of major packaging issues within the food and drink sector and suggest where organisations can focus strategy to improve packaging targets for cost, product quality and the environment.
