About UsInnovative solutions for real issuesAssisting food and drink companies push the boundaries for innovation and future technologyWe all know that the food and drink sector exists in a highly competitive market. Against a backdrop of increasing regulation and moves towards healthy eating, it is under continuous pressure to innovate, seek new markets and reduce costs whilst maintaining nutritional quality, ensuring food safety and improving quality. The future rides on the ability of food and drink companies to innovate faster, more consistently, and with greater understanding of consumer needs. The ability of individual businesses to identify relevant challenges and opportunities, develop appropriate responses and execute effectively will be critical to their short term and long term success. The UK food industry has a strong reputation for research and development. Food Innovation at Sheffield Hallam University aim to underpin development with research which leads to genuine innovation. As a result, our food innovation programme began in October 2006. The Food Innovation Trends (FIT) for Food database has been developed to provide technical information and communicate innovative projects partnered between Food Innovation at Sheffield Hallam University and companies in the food and beverage sector. If you want to use FIT for Food and find out about the associated research project impacts on the sector you will need to register for this service.
